Dubai unveils plan for new 'healthy living' residential area

Dubai Municipality to build project on Dubai-Al Ain Road; to include dedicated cycle paths, walkways and sports fields

Dubai Municipality on Tuesday announced that it has completed all necessary procedures to plan a new residential area for citizens in Umm Nahd-3 on the Dubai-Al Ain Road

The development will have a total area of 763 hectares, state news agency WAM reported.

The initiative follows directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and reflects the government's keenness to provide adequate housing for citizens and their families.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, said that the new announcement coincides with World Population Day, which aims to raise awareness on population issues.

Lootah said that while planning the new residential area, dedicated tracks for bicycles and pedestrians were added, in addition to sporting fields.

He added that the municipality will soon distribute the housing to citizens, who have been approved by the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment.
