At haus & haus, we know that being part of Dubai isn’t just about business—it’s about embracing the community, its traditions, and giving back in meaningful ways. As Ramadan unfolds, we’ve been honoured to support local initiatives, help distribute meals and experience the incredible generosity that defines this special month.
Dubai’s unique charm comes from its blend of cultures and traditions. As residents, it’s important to acknowledge and respect significant moments like Ramadan. It’s a time for reflection, gratitude, and giving back—a perfect opportunity to contribute to the city that has welcomed us all.
What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, shifting each year due to the lunar cycle. It’s a time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, focusing on self-discipline, spiritual growth, and empathy for those less fortunate.
Each day, fasting begins with suhoor (a pre-dawn meal) and ends with iftar (the meal to break the fast), often shared with family, friends, and the wider community. But Ramadan is about more than just fasting—it’s a time of prayer, reflection, and increased acts of kindness.
How to volunteer during Ramadan in Dubai
With Ramadan well underway, there’s still time to give back and make a difference. Whether you’re distributing iftar meals, volunteering with local charities, or supporting initiatives to help those in need, getting involved is a great way to embrace the spirit of the month.
If you’d like to volunteer, you must be a resident aged 18+, though those under 18 can participate with parental permission. Some roles may require medical clearance or licences.
You can sign up via the UAE Volunteer Platform to explore year-round opportunities, including these Ramadan-specific initiatives still running:
Breakfast meal distribution (Ages 16-80) – ongoing until 30 March 2025
Iftar meal distribution (Ages 15-60) – ongoing until 30 March 2025
As we move through the second half of Ramadan, it’s a great time to get involved. Even small acts of kindness—like donating, volunteering for an evening, or sharing a meal—can have a lasting impact.
