1. Go house hunting

Keeping your cool over finding a new property to rent or buy is easier below 30 degrees. There’s less demand for house viewings at christmas too, so if you’re staying put over the festive season you’ll have first choice on your Dubai property.

Between our community stands and head office, haus & haus are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

2. Brunch on the beach

Winter beachlife is more pleasant than any other time of the year in Dubai and combining beach with brunch is bliss. Friday brunchers will love the private beach at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah. Party brunchers can join the action on Saturdays at Nikki Beach club.

Take a look at Nikki Beach Residences while you’re there.

3. Do a seasonal maintenance check

It might not be top of your list, but taking a day out to prepare for winter is a day well spent. Rainfall in Dubai is minimal but sudden downfalls make roads hazardous, so check your car’s brakes, tires, and headlights ahead of the rainy season.

At home, ensure roof drainage is clear, clean garden furniture and smarten up outside space ready for long sunny days outside. If you’re time poor, a good Property Management service will do this for you.

4. If you manage one christmassy thing...

Make it a tree lighting ceremony, a winter festival, or a takeaway turkey – Time Out Dubai has all the info. We’re also big fans of a christmas day bike ride. Nad Al Sheba Cycle Park makes the perfect place for little ones to try out their new wheels from Santa.

What you save on air-cooling bills in the cooler months can go a surprisingly long way in Dubai when you know how to spend it well.

5. Stay home...

Wherever you live in Dubai, 800 Pizza delivers hot, authentic pizza to your door in minutes (it’s the haus late night pizza delivery of choice too). So make the most of those star filled nights with takeout dinner and a bottle of something lovely in your back garden.

6. Or take a trip

Camping is something you should experience at least once in the Emirates. Go glamp if you prefer, with a night’s stay in a boutique trailer or lodge in the Hatta mountains. An idyllic way to end a full on day of adventure at the Hatta Wadi Hub activity centre.

7. Make NYE plans

When it comes to New Year, don’t leave your night to chance. All Dubai will be trying to secure a spot to view the fireworks, with roads and metro stations extra busy. Make your restaurant reservations early or claim your beach picnic space by late afternoon. Alternatively, persuade that friend with an apartment at The Address to have a party – you’ll enjoy the best views of the Burj Khalifa fireworks in Downtown.
